Your role and responsibilities
The role of the Category & Project Manager is to develop, plan and implement the sourcing strategy for an assigned category or group of categories, with a focus on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability. In addition, dedicated projects will be led in this role, be it within the category or for the LD SCM team. Category & Project Manager Transformer & Cooling System - local CH- is responsible for identifying, selecting, qualifying and continuously developing the best supply base through the total cost of ownership (TCO) to exceed the internal and external superior customer experience. He or she has the responsibility to meet or exceed all the local division business targets and secure the execution of all division strategic initiatives by developing supportive strategy, flight plan and actions. He or she has also the responsibility to align with category team members of the global Category team (located in different countries), and SAMs (Supplier Account Managers). Category & Project Manager Transformer & Cooling System has strong commitment to develop the business in the long run, in close co-operation with Suppliers, global and local Product Groups (PG), R&D, operations, PE/Q and other functions that satisfy both the daily operative needs and long-term business needs to the respective local division.Your responsibilities:• Lead the Transformer & Cooling System categories on local level and work closely with respective global Category Manager. Ensures all relevant parties understand strategies and execute processes accordingly.• Meet or exceed targets set for own category (Cost reductions, Supplier OTD, Supplier Quality, lead time etc.)• Develop suppliers in close collaborations with the global Category Manager and the PGs, operations, mgmt. mentors and relevant parties and have selected suppliers SAM responsibility by him/herself.• Manages planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets, emerging country spending and savings forecasts. Minimizes risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with Company guidelines.• Negotiates agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists, terms and conditions. Adapts corporate contractual framework to the local business needs. Recommends frame agreements to management and executes upon approval. Provides ongoing oversight and contract management with suppliers. • Designs and implements cost-out programs and/or processes to reach financial targets. • Contributes to and participates in setting and implementing budget and targets within the framework. Accountable for local divisions performances for own category.• Develop processes, tools, analytics, dashboards relevant to the assigned categories, promote internally and externally digitalization and process automation. Share best practices.• Takes full project ownership and lead for dedicated SCM projects on local division level.
Qualifications for the role
- University degree Master of Science in Engineering or Economics
- Demonstrated experience in category management and in project lead/ project sourcing and with sound knowledge of Transformers, Mechanical and Electrical components.
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
- Excellent networking and collaboration skills within local division, local and global PG, wide network of suppliers, internal or external customers.
- Patient, passionate, ability to work under pressure, persistent with continuously improvement mindset. Fast problem-solving skills and pro-active and independent decision maker carrying the responsibility.
- Cultural awareness, excellent communication and negotiation skills, good argumentation and ability to influence internally and externally.
- Fluent written and spoken English. German is a plus.
- Willingness to travel, est 10-15%
